Choropleth Map

Check out our video tutorial on choropleth maps

💡 Choropleth maps are useful for illustrating areas, geographic or spatial, with colors, shading, or patterns, and representing numerical data as densities, percentages, or values. An important value is illustrated by a high color density or shading.

Creating the component

Click on the Choropleth map icon to add a choropleth map to the dashboard and drag and drop the fields you want to visualize.

The configuration of the component is done in the following order:

Fields of data items

Fields to be visualized are added by drag and drop in the following three main areas:

  • Attribute

  • Maps

  • Measures

Attribute

This data field contains the codes of the areas to be displayed on the choropleth map.

Selection of the "Store Country" data field

Binding the data items

Once an attribute has been added to the data items, it must be linked to the corresponding map attribute. To do this, click on the button next to the attribute:

In the window that appears, select the map attribute that corresponds to the attribute added in the data items:

By clicking on the magnifying glass, it is possible to view the values of all attributes of the map:

In our example, "Store Country" contains the name code, so it must be binded to "NAME" for the link to work correctly.

Maps

This field contains the information to be displayed on the map.

Sales by country

Measures

This field contains the information to be displayed in tooltips.

Number of stores per country

Multiple data items

Multiple maps

Adding a value in a map data item creates a new view on the same choropleth map background. It is possible to switch from one to the other by clicking on the stacked areas icon at the top right of the component.

  • Comparison of the sales amount target and the actual

Multiple measures

Adding measures increases the data in the tooltips.

  • Comparison of the sales amount objective with the actual.
